T3 Pimple Gel, 1st Outbreak
Acne sufferers know how sudden acne breakouts bother them badly to the point where that’s all they are thinking about the whole day and night, looking in the mirror or not at all looking in the mirror, constantly touching and checking to see if the pimple has gone down. What we keep looking for is a miracle quick-fix solution to make that ugly bump disappear immediately, so that we can look in the mirror again without being worried.
There aren’t ANY quick-fix or spot acne treatment products that I have found effective so far, and trust me I have tried most of them available in the market. Only Salicylic Acid cream works pretty decently on my pimples, but nothing magical. So I always keep picking up the little packs that promise to make the acne disappear instantly. Thats how I picked up this pimple gel from T3 while browsing in the pharmacy of FairPrice, Singapore.
About T3 Pimple Gel, 1st Outbreak -
T3 is a brand manufactured by HOE PHARMACEUTICALS in Malaysia. They have more acne-care products like cleansers, toners in this line alongwith this pimple gel.
Directions say to apply T3 Pimple Gel at the first sign of pimples directly on to the pimples after cleansing with T3 Facial Cleanser.
Ingredients -
Main active ingredient is Resorcinol 2%, then there is D-Panthenol, glycerin, Tea Tree Oil and preservatives and stabilizers.
I wanted to explore more on the active ingredient Resorcinol as I had never used a product with it before. Turns out it is a pretty well-known acne-remedy. But strangely enough there aren’t many products in the market that use resircinol. Why so? Maybe it is not as good as the other biggies like Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, Tea Tree oil, Retinol etc.?
How Resircinol works ?
It works by penetrating through the hardened, dead skin cells and breaking them up. It is used on warts, dermatitis, calluses, corn, eczema, acne etc. I did not find any internal preparations with Resircinol probably because it is unsafe to be taken internally.
Safety of Resircinol -
At some respectable sites like PubMed, I found that Resircinol has the ability to get absorbed in the blood stream and affect the thyroid function, ofcourse not in a good way. Any topical application that gets absorbed into the blood stream must be checked out for its safety before using. And to be truthful, when I find the words like toxicity, serious effects, adverse reaction in a product’s scientific study, I sure am going to be skeptical.
Now you know where this review is going.
Its not that all the acne treatment actives are absolutely safe. Most common drawback with them is that they cause photo-sensitivity making you more prone to sunburn. But I can handle that by taking proper sun care, so that’s an acceptable ill-effect. However ingredients that affect internally can run havoc through your body, without you even knowing it. Mainly because often there is not enough clinical data available on the topical application safety of such ingredients, so there is no way to tell exactly how bad they are going to affect you internally.
T3 Pimple Gel pack does not list any kind of safety precautions, which is quite misleading. I have read that topical products with Resircinol should not be applied on larger areas, should be used moderately and not to be overused. T3 atleast should have given a hint about it getting absorbed into the blood.
Take my word for it -
I tried the T3 Gel 2/3 times, before reading about Resircinol, and that was it! Never used it again. It affecting the thyroid part scared me off. Being the women, we know how important it is to keep our hormones in check. Thyroid regulates many hormonal functions and causes many disasters if not kept in balance. So no more of this stuff for me. Since I haven’t given it a fair trial, I can’t say if it really works as a spot-treatment for acne or not. But the 2/3 times that I used it, I didn’t find my acne bump going down even a bit.
Rating and Recommendation -
Need I say that I have to rate it way below average, maybe 3/10.
I do not recommend it at all no matter how desperate you are for getting rid of the breakouts. It might be working on acne for some, but there are other safer acne treatments available.
Hope this helps.
